The City of Nocona is a Type A general law city governed by a Mayor with five Councilmen.

There are four police officers and volunteer fire departments in both Nocona and Nocona Hills.

There are two parks, one with two large pavilions, complete with barbecue grills and picnic tables, a rodeo arena, two tennis courts, a public swimming pool, a multi-sport complex with softball and baseball fields, an all-weather track located at the football stadium, a library, and two 18-hole golf courses: Indian Oaks Golf Course and Nocona Hills Country Club.

Lake Nocona offers many recreational opportunities.  Facilities include a marina, lakeside lodging, an RV park, three public parks with boat ramps and fishing piers.  Lake Nocona is highly rated as one of the premier bass fishing lakes in Texas.

Water is provided by the City of Nocona, with the water source being Lake Nocona, which has a capacity of 25,400 acre feet.  The daily maximum system capacity is 2,000,000, with the maximum daily use being approximately 300,000 to 400,000.  The pressure on the mains is approximately 50 psi.  The storage capacity is 800,000 gallons.  The system is not looped.
